World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also increase bonuses, such as damage from PvE and crit chance.
If the template for upgrading a weapon is in %, the weapon will gain 3% of its previous damage for every time it's upgraded.
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armor and trinkets in order to give them a stat boost or to add an additional effect. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors trading, or looting. Some upgrades also have specific cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot to accommodate them; the item must be at the very least upgraded to blue level in order for the component to be used. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used one time; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a special kind of upgrade component that is that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment, as well as some of the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade can include a suffix or prefix, modifying the name of the item to the upgrade (for examplethe 'Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions of the item using the smallest amount of upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level using standard methods.
A 'boost upgrade' can alter the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. They can also be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or purchasing them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals.
The player can have up to five boost upgrades at a time. Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-level version of the item will appear during the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to keep improving their equipment, even if they're unsure of how much it will increase after a future reset.
The process of upgrading an item can be expensive and it's possible that the item will eventually become obsolete, or even break, when the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also offer an additional bonus when reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs increase the power of all nodes within their radius as well as existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways. We suggest upgrading them as soon as you can to level 15.
In the endgame you'll often discover that the best way to enhance your gear is to place Glyphs. These are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded up to level 15 and offer an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.
Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt by using the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.
Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of an Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs that you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
Once you have the desired Glyphs, you will have to attach them to your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus that will boost the stats of a specific set of nodes that are within the radius of the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph, this will either be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
Glyphs will boost all nodes connected to them, therefore it is recommended to place Glyphs in strategic spots on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For example, a Druid should try to place their Glyphs close to their primary damage points, however, you may also want to be sure to place them near the most critical damage nodes, too.
Leveling
The upgrade system of items allows players to boost the power of certain items by adding upgraded components. This is referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum of 385. Each level of item requires different components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.
Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by the completion of Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab of crafting tables. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields some Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrading an item. When enough points have been earned you'll be eligible to claim the upgrade and also receive the bonuses.
When an item is upgraded by a player, the base item is replaced with a new item of the same type. This means that the same armor piece will become a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will have a unique bonus. This could be a disadvantage since the item may be more expensive even if you don't require it.
If the player has enough tokens they can roll item upgrades . The item will be replaced with the same item, but it has a base of level 1 and completely different bonuses. This can be useful for certain items, but it shouldn't be performed frequently, since it could waste a lot of resources.
Certain upgrades can boost their value, allowing players to customize their gear. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player repeatedly enters and exits water (or does not swim as a dolphin). The item can be upgraded multiple times and increases the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is extremely important in PvP. A properly rolled version can be worth 50 times the value of the unupgraded counterpart.
Requirements
The item upgrader allows players to raise the level of their equippable equipment (armor, weapons trinkets, and weapons) beyond ilvl385 by handing over the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase the base defense of that piece, while upgrading weapon equipment will increase the damage base and the strength and dexterity required to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.
Each item can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero equipment, which can be upgraded eight times. Each time you upgrade an object, it is at risk of failing. The failure rate increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures can result in the item reverting to its initial state which means that the player has to spend additional items than if they stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.
If an item is not able to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it earned like the chance to crit attack damage, additional effects (such as an increase in healing over time, or reloading speed). However, the player can still continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.
When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that, if a weapon gains an increase in the chance of crit the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. Slots is a brand-new attribute that was added to the definitions of items. The value is calculated each time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item are based on its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade. For example, a common equipment item might have 5 upgrades with a cost of 25600 Technology Points, 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items have lower costs per upgrade.
Premium items could have different upgrade requirements than standard gear. For example they may require fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. However, players will need to visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs mentioned above, each upgrade requires an individual amount of ingredients needed to upgrade.
