Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The process of upgrading an item, often called "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment results in an increase in linearity of any stat.
Players can recycle up to six items at a time in order to gain an ability to gauge the level of each of the upgraded components. The cost of recycling an item varies depending on its rarity and.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade of an item can be a method to increase the stats on your weapons and armor. This can be achieved through a number of means, including the use of upgrade components and also upgrading an item's mark levels or rarity. A lot of items can be reforged to boost their value.
Upgradeable items can be found in the game, both within the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be crafted by players. The most common method of upgrading equipment is through the use of upgrade components which are the items that can be inserted into equipment. Most equipment comes with upgrade slots, and many require a certain upgrade level. Certain upgrade components offer specific bonuses, while others offer general bonuses.
There are a variety of upgrade elements available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gems and enchantments, can be put on any type of equipment, and offer less than upgrades for specific equipment. Glyphs can be placed in gathering tools and provide various bonuses, from increasing the speed at which an item gathers to supplying additional crafting materials.
To upgrade an item, select it from your inventory and open the Upgrade window. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected stats will be after the upgrade, along with any materials or components required. The Upgrade button at the bottom will show Blocked if you do not have enough of either.
The upper-right corner shows the amount of upgrade components required for an item. The cost of an upgrade increases with the level and rarity of the item increases. However, you can reduce the cost by purchasing upgrades from a merchant or trading them with other players.
Most weapons can be improved with a prefix, like a rune or an insignia. Some can be improved with a suffix. These upgrades change the name of the item and add an adjective, such as "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor. The only exceptions are the noninscribable wands, shields and foci from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which cannot be upgraded with any mods at all.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be a powerful tool to communicate visual information. They animate to capture the attention of the viewers and trigger interest in the brain. The animation of glyphs resembles body language, making them more effective in communicating the message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs can also trigger a feeling of familiarity in the brain, increasing retention of the message.
Each glyph has a set of values it can increase a stat's value in the form of an item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an artifact. This is the highest value that a glyph could enhance a stat by and not the amount it actually increases the stat by. The value of the glyph will depend on the tier and quality of the item you are in awe of.
item upgrading of upgrade components that are installed into items cannot be removed or replaced without dismantling them, with the exception of legendary upgrades and equipment. If you have a rune or glyph you don't want to use, but it's not been applied to gear yet, you can move the item to another piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu within the Glyphs Panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.
If you want to remove a glyph from an item you must salvage it with an Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item where the glyph is located will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be salvaged with the glyph shards.
Adding a glyph to an item could cause it to become unstable, and the shards of that glyph will disappear from your inventory when you take it down. You can also add an inscription on your equipment to increase its value. For instance, the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and then deal it out slowly rather than all at once. This can be helpful for players who are taking lots of damage from enemies but don't want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens are used to change the affixes that are placed on weapons and equipment. They can be obtained from a variety of sources, such as mysterious boxes or rare drops from skulled monsters or by killing bosses. Each reroll token gives the player a new random affix, which is typically superior to the original. Reroll tokens are also a good way to reroll weapon stats and can be upgraded to provide better damage or additional perks.
Items that have been rerolled do not appear in the item upgrade menu, however they can still receive upgrades. Rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to recycle. Recycling an item adds small amount of points to its level gauge. This amount is determined by the item's rarity and also its level. Thus, items with higher levels are more valuable to recycle than items with lower levels.
In addition to reroll tokens, players can make use of Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to reroll the traits of a weapon in an upgraded unit. A reroll will roll the % chance of a weapon trait; if it rolls higher, the weapon will be upgraded. If it rolls lower, it remains unchanged. Weapons can be repeated up to three times.

The Reroll system has been criticized by players for being expensive, and it would be more equitable to let players pay for it in the form of money or food items which would allow them to change their build without wasting time and energy. The developers have no plans to implement paid rerolls at this point in the game's development. Instead, they plan to include a race change potion in the future.
Leveling
There are many ways to upgrade an item. The first way to level up an upgrade to an item is to increase the amount of upgrade. This increases the value of upgrading any stat. The second option is to increase the effect of an upgrade, which can increase the healing or damage for an individual stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. After this the new item will retain its iLevel but it will be upgraded with the effects of the upgraded type of item.
It is crucial to remember that upgrades are random. In the majority of cases, a better roll is based on the glyphs. However, there are times when a greater or special roll can occur. The item type will also determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a unique or rare item to a unique kind of item, it has a chance of getting an additional level.
Upgrading items can be costly, particularly if you're upgrading a piece of equipment from a standard to legendary track. The price will be based on the item's base iLevel and the number of upgrade levels it comes with. In addition, some upgrade tracks require crests in order to achieve the next upgrade level.
If you're lucky the upgraded item could attain the highest level on its upgrade track, and thus unlock an additional benefit. This will result in a significant boost in the upgrade value of the item. The bonus effect will change with each upgrade level, though. In general, the effect of upgrading is increased by +3.
Depending on the item's base level and upgrade process, the iLevel for the upgraded item will change too. For instance the weapon that has been upgraded from a unique or rare to an extraordinary item will be able to get the Enhanced Defense of the base item type.
